The views expressed in the letter from Jean Shearman on the Planning Committee’s consideration of the Dorridge Sainsbury application (Letters) give a rather jaundiced account of what was described by several residents as an illustration of ‘democracy in action’.

WITH reference to your article “Church plans re-submitted” (Solihull News) having checked with the council planning department I would advise that whilst the domed extension has been removed in the new application (2010/2042) the stand-alone tower remains, be-it marginally reduced in size.
It is interesting that Councillor Howard Allen should comment on the council’s budget pressures (Solihull News) given the failure of his Alliance Group to participate in the all-party budget strategy group looking at council expenditure.
