MALCOLM Harbour (letters, July 17) says he wants a reformed, open, flexible European Union, with no more centralised powers. I thought that was what we voted for in 1975.
Over 30 years later, we’re still waiting and we shall continue to wait in vain, because the European Parliament is powerless. Indeed, its only function is to provide a veneer of democratic respectability to an unreformable bureaucratic dictatorship.
Nothing better illustrates this than the failure to audit the EU accounts since 1994 - a scandal that speaks of fraud and corruption on an unimaginable scale.
