A disgrace

I AM sure we are all appalled by the hugely offensive comments made by a Foreign Office official about the forthcoming visit of His Holiness the Pope to these shores.

I AM sure we are all appalled by the hugely offensive comments made by a Foreign Office official about the forthcoming visit of His Holiness the Pope to these shores.

These outrageous remarks are a disgrace and an affront to the people of this wonderful country of ours and must be condemned outright.

I understand the individual has had his knuckles rapped and transferred to another position. If he had been employed by a private company he would undoubtedly have been sacked.

Not now

I READ with dismay about the gradual introduction of a new police uniform. In the present credit crisis and immense Government lending deficit surely this new police uniform could be delayed if not cancelled?

I have consulted other people about the new police uniform and none want it. Also there is considerable unease about a totally black uniform. Many think Mosley’s Fascist Black Shirts. Also in summer black absorbs the heat and in a heatwave that is the last thing we want to happen, too hot human beings.

Nice work

I WOULD like to commend the

management at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre on their decision to bring in the services of Phys-Kids Ltd in the school holidays.

My wife and I regularly attend the centre for the 50 plus sessions but in years gone by have avoided the centre in the school holidays due to large numbers of kids making a nuisance of themselves.

The last few times we have been at the centre in the school holidays, we have been really impressed at the professional way in which the holiday activities have been managed.

The guy running it is an ex-Solihull based school teacher called Paul.

He is a really nice man who had great respect from the kids. Well done - keep up the good work.

Flying high

I CAN only thank Monarch for getting me to Alicante on Wednesday, April 14, the day before the volcano, ten minutes early and a week later on the 21 back to Birmingham right on time.

The pilot apologised and we all had a free drink and a free lunch of sausage, mash, veg, crackers, piece of chocolate cake and a carton of spring water.

Some airlines carry on regardless no fuss, no airing their views on TV.

Thank you Monarch for a pleasant journey.
