A musical end for pupils

AT Allcott Hall School, children said goodbye with their own unique take on Mamma Mia.

Pupils from the Lime Grove school are moving to neighbouring Coleshill Heath School in the second of two mergers.

Last Friday, teachers and pupils said goodbye with a debut performance of a specially-written musical.

Teacher Margaret Johnstone had worked with colleagues to pen an all-new version of the ABBA show.

Sue Dickie, acting headteacher, said: “It’s a sad day because this is a real community school, but we wanted to give the children some happy memories to take with them.

“We decided to perform Mamma Mia! because it’s an upbeat colourful show, which has given us the chance to all dress up in these costumes.”

The two combined schools (Alcott Hall/Coleshill Heath and Bennetts Well/Hatchford), along with nearby Windy Arbor School, are forming a federation with the three premises having one governing body.
