I THINK it would be of interest to the many pensioners and members of the Transport and Workers Retired Members Association to know of the death of Joe Harris. His funeral is today, Friday, September 5.
He worked tirelessly for the rights of the working class, all of his life. How do I remember Joe?
He started as treasurer of Solihull Pensioners' Convention 15 years ago and was made chairman the year after.
He remained chairman to the end of his life. He lived and breathed The Pensioner Movement. He was a man of conviction - a leader.
He was a wonderful example of how to live a life without affectation - without greed - without envy but with a love of his fellow man.
SPC salutes his bravery over the last few years - the death of Barbara and the fight with cancer and C Difficile.
He was a great example to us all.
I think you can say, we, at Solihull Pensioners' Convention, all loved Joe!
Josie Herbert, secretary, Solihull Pensioners' Convention & Forum.
