A PROUD vicar celebrated 25 years as the longest serving at the church in Marston Green.
Reverend Roy Allen of St Leonard’s church was delighted with his achievement which he marked with a special service followed by a buffet lunch.
The popular vicar had 100 parishioners attend the service, including wife Margaret, who plays the organ and directs the choir.
Also in attendance were his children, Matthew, Jayne and Katherine.
St Leonard’s has seen five vicars at the church during its 73 year history, Roy being there the longest since August 1986.
Previously from Smethwick, the reverend also served as vicar at St Mary’s in Temple Balsall for four years.
