A united front for services

SOLIHULL MPs have agreed to join forces to fight the plans to downgrade maternity services at Solihull Hospital.

SOLIHULL MPs have agreed to join forces to fight the plans to downgrade maternity services at Solihull Hospital.

Lorely Burt (Lib Dem, Solihull) and Caroline Spelman (Con, Meriden) have both been very vocal in opposing any changes.

Now they’ve agreed to present a united front and will be working together on the issue.

They have also approached Coun Mick Corser, who heads up Solihull’s Labour group, and are hoping to get a full cross-party approach.

Mrs Burt said: “This issue should be above party politics. We want to get all parties on board for the sake of protecting quality maternity services for mums and babies in Solihull”

Concerns over maternity services have been building for months - with demonstrations and petitions organised. Health bosses have stressed that no decisions have been made as yet.
