A wheelie great recycling boost

Solihull residents have now started receiving their new black wheelie bins for waste that cannot be recycled.

Solihull residents have now started receiving their new black wheelie bins for waste that cannot be recycled.

The 140 litre bins will be delivered over a 12 week period. Their weekly collection will then start the week after people have received their wheelie bin.

As well as the new black wheelie bins, Solihull Council will also be introducing new kerbside collections for cans and tins, plastic bottles and card from September 28.

Existing collections for paper, glass and green wheelie bins will carry on as normal.

People who live in properties which are unsuitable for wheelie bins have been contacted and will be receiving a different type of service.

Cabinet Member for Community Services, Councillor Mrs Kate Wild, said: “The new black wheelie bins offer a much cleaner and safer way for residents to collect their household waste than the current black sacks.”

Residents can find out what date they will receive their black wheelie bin by visiting www.solihull.gov.uk/blackbindeliveries.
