SHIRLEY’S own Ace Ventura was filmed rescuing a missing Tom cat for a new Channel 4 series - Pet Detectives.

Arnold Road resident Ceinwen Bran reunited the affectionate feline with its owners after the white tabby had been missing for five months.

Piano teacher Ceinwen, who runs Piano4solihull, had semi-adopted the pet and named him Nicholas, as she first saw him at Christmas.

She said: “I began to feed him in the hope of befriending him so I could take him to the vets to be scanned.

“ I canvassed 100 houses, shops and a GP’s surgery in the hope someone would know him and took him to the vets to be scanned but sadly he had no microchip so we were unable to locate his owners.

“I spent hours trawling through websites and found a picture of him on Animalsearch.co.uk.

“The owner Tom Watkins told me about Channel 4 filming a documentary about re-uniting pets and I agreed to be filmed rescuing the cat and re-homing him.

“Thankfully Nicholas appeared for food and some cuddles!

“We took him to the garage for safe keeping until his owners could collect him.

“His owners were ecstatic and took him home on Sunday evening where he is apparently now settled in and due to be neutered and chipped so he will be less likely to wander off.

“Nicholas used all his nine lives to get to Arnold Road, as he ran across Stratford Road and Olton Road!

“I quite miss him, such a sweet loving young cat.”
