A PLANE had to make a forced landing at Birmingham Airport, only 20 minutes into its journey, after smoke started to fill the cockpit.

The Flybe aircraft had taken off for Glasgow at just after 3pm last Thursday but less than half an hour later, it had got into difficulties.

Passengers were fairly panicked by the news, with one woman reportedly screaming with fear.

The airline maintained that the smoke was caused by a “minor electrical fault” and the plane had returned as a precautionary measure.
