THIS year’s Shirley Carnival raised £3000 for the County Air Ambulance.
The charity was the major beneficiary of this summer’s event – organised by Shirley Lions.
Martin Conlon, carnival chairman, said: “We choose a different charity each year as the main beneficiary of the money raised at the Carnival. As always, there were plenty of good causes fully deserving of charitable donations, and it was difficult to decide who would benefit from the funds raised.
“As the Air Ambulance does not receive any help at all from Government, or the Lottery, we are delighted to be helping them out.” Tony Bateson, County Air Ambulance Trust director, said the charity was “enormously grateful.”
Preparations are already underway for next year’s carnival, on July 10. Want to know more? Call 0845 833 9547, or go to www.shirleylions.co.uk .
