A SEVEN-year-old sleuth who helped put three notorious burglars behind bars has received a top award.
Eagle-eyed Alfie Guy-Lyon had spotted a group of men acting suspiciously outside a borough home.
He told his mum, Julie, who dialled 999 and police sped to the scene, where they managed to catch the gang in the act.
Officers were delighted and paid a visit to St Alphege Junior School to present young Alfie with a Blue Lamp Award.
“He’s a smart boy, he doesn’t miss a trick,” said mum-of-two Julie. “He’s always looking out for other people.
“We were on our way to a swimming lesson when Alfie spotted the group outside a house.
“I wouldn’t have noticed at all.”
Following the break-in last winter, the group have all been convicted of burglary and received prison sentences.
It’s early days, but Julie suspects that her son might be interested in a career as a police officer.
Superintendent Dave Walker, from Solihull Police, said Alfie was a credit to his parents and the school.
