I READ with amusement the letter from P Thomas, addressed to another one of his critics, John Smith (Solihull News). Why don’t you give up John, we all know that there is no one so blind as he who does not want to see. I was wondering if this letter was addressed to the Solihull News 500 years ago, before the knowledge that we have today was available?
I am 77 years old and have had many discussions with various religious believers over the years. Despite all of the scientific evidence I have produced, I have never managed to convince one person that man invented gods, and there have been many of them - god of the sea, god of love etc. Gods were invented to explain the unexplainable, but it is explainable today, thanks to the millions who have researched and dug and delved instead of blindly believing what they have been told.
My only regret is that when P Thomas passes on and finds that there is no heaven, I won’t be able to say, I told you so.
