A Shirley teenager running an Alpha course for young people found herself rubbing shoulders with a 90-year-old who had just completed hers.
Solihull Christian Fellowship, based at the Bridge in Shirley, has taken the unusual step of having three Alpha courses to explore whether there is a God.
Alpha courses have been crucial in reaching thousands of people with the Christian messages of love and hope in modern, ‘no holds barred’ discussions.
At Solihull, a course welcoming teenagers will be launched on October 8 at Touchwood’s Starbucks coffee shop.
Jess Wright, aged 16, of Shirley, who will be running it with her boyfriend Darren Williams, 18, and Sam Lee, 23, said: “These courses are so good, they bring so many people to church, that we need one aimed at young people.”
Another Alpha caters for seniors aged 70 – 90 years old, such as Ethel McColl of Shirley.
She said: “I was brought up a Christian, and I missed it when I couldn’t get to church, so it was great to have the Alpha course come to our community room at Elizabeth Grove.”
