A PET owner is devastated after a small menagerie of animals was stolen during a burglary in Chelmsley Wood.

Thieves broke into a garden aviary in the estate’s Woodclose Road overnight on November 21.

Under cover of darkness, they stole an eagle owl, a dog and two ferrets from the address.

The 13-year-old owl was micro-chipped and had a purple tag on its leg.

Also missing are a five-year-old white and brown Jack Russell, called June, and the ferrets - one white, one sandy-coloured.

PC James White, from Solihull Police, said: “These pets aren’t financially valuable but naturally they have great sentimental value to the owners who dearly want them returned. The animals are micro-chipped so again they are of little value to the thieves – I would encourage them to contact police anonymously so arrangements can be made to collect them.

“I’d also be interested to hear from anyone who may have spotted pets matching these descriptions or been offered them for sale.”

Anyone with information should call PC White on 0345 113 5000 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111
