ANTIQUE enthusiasts will be able to marvel at some of the country’s finest heirlooms and historic artefacts at the NEC next month.
Antiques for Everyone will be coming to the venue between April 12 and 15, where the central stage will be transformed into a Downton Abbey-style feature.
History buff and BBC Antiques Roadshow regular Judith Miller will be the event’s VIP guest, alongside her on screen colleague Mark Hill. The pair will be holding talks every day, sharing expert advice and answering questions.
Speaking to the Solihull News this week, Judith said: “I am very much looking forward to it. It’s always so inspiring to meet collectors, hear their stories and share some of our experience with them.
“This is a really good fair and there will be some fabulous collections on display.”
Much of Judith’s career has been dominated by valuing old items. She writes regular magazine columns, giving advice on antique collections and has had a series of books published.
“It was my love of history which first got me interested in antiques. For me it is more about the stories behind the pieces than what they are worth.
“The best advice I could give anyone is the more you handle and look at antiques, the more experienced you become. There are certain things to look out for and the more research you do, the easier it will become to spot whether something is a potentially valuable item.”
More than 100,000 pieces of furniture, jewellery, fine art, pottery and porcelain silver will be on display, alongside antiqueitems from over 300 specialist dealers.
