Apology is made on waste mix-up

SOLIHULL Council has apologised to residents across Solihull, who did not receive details about the new garden-waste collections.

SOLIHULL Council has apologised to residents across Solihull, who did not receive details about the new garden-waste collections.

A distribution company was supposed to deliver a calendar to all the borough’s homeowners, but there were many addresses where it did not arrive

The issue was raised at this month’s meeting of Full Council, with several councillors saying they had not received a copy themselves.

Councillor Ken Rushen (Lib Dem, Lyndon) said that around 600 people had phoned Solihull Connect to raise the issue. He called for assurances that those residents would receive a copy of the calendar.

This week, the local authority said that anyone who had not had the calendar, should receive one soon.

Coun Kate Wild, cabinet member for community services, has said that the distribution company will cover the costs of the blunder.

“I would like to confirm that there will be no additional cost to this council,” she said.

The contractors are also carrying out a survey, to find out why some homes were missed out. There does not appear to be a pattern to those homes affected.
