GENEROUS residents have once again dug deep for this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Solihull Royal British Legion had already collected close to £30,000 when the Solihull News called on Tuesday.
A raft of volunteers have spent days counting the donations at the legion’s building, in Union Road.
But chairman Dave Mouzer said that the branch was still some way off a final total.
“We have to count 600 tins and buckets, coming in from across the borough - so it’s a very big job,” he said.
“At the moment I think we’re slightly ahead of last year, but I wouldn’t like to say for definite at this stage. There’s still several days counting ahead of us before we have a clear idea of the amount.”
