SHIRLEY has a great tradition of Christmas lights along the Stratford Road. In the last couple of years it has been difficult, but we still managed to keep the tradition going, and I don’t know anyone who would want 2010 to break it.
With 40,000 people living in Shirley, a donation of just 25p per person or £1 for a family we could see the display returned to its former glory. Many of the shops have collection boxes but to show we have moved with the times, you can even donate through phone or internet banking.
Please send a cheque made payable to Shirley Town Centre Partnership, 44b Drury Lane, Solihull, West Midlands B91 3BG and put “Christmas Lights” on the back of the cheque. You can even pop into the Shirley Branch of Barclays on Stratford Road or donate online with sort code: 207762 Account Number:10654043

Theft by Twilight
ON Friday, July 9, I took my three young children to see Eclipse at Cineworld in Solihull. This was a birthday treat for my son. During the film, my son’s wallet slipped out of his pocket and fell under the seats. The wallet is a small black leather zip-up with a little picture of a VW campervan on the front and contained his birthday money (approx £45).
I called the cinema later and went in the following morning to see if it had been handed in but to no avail. So I would appeal to my fellow twilighters - if you have found this wallet please do the right thing and hand it in to the staff at Cineworld Solihull, they have my contact details and will be able to return it to my son.
