CREATIVE Silhillians will have the chance to show off their talents at Hampton-in-Arden Arts and Crafts Exhibition next month.
On display will be paintings, drawings and calligraphy and craftwork including embroidery, needlework, woodwork, glassware, pottery and jewellery. The exhibits are all original works produced by villagers and artists and crafters from other local communities, some of whom have been students at courses run by Hampton Community Crafts. Most of the exhibits are for sale.
The annual event has grown in size considerably since it was first staged more than 30 years ago and last year there were over 250 exhibits.
This year’s exhibition will include photographs taken during celebrations in the village of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. And as usual, there will be an artist in residence. This year it is Mary Wills, a well-known local painter, who will be giving demonstrations.
The exhibition, to be opened by Solihull Mayor Councillor Ken Hawkins and the Mayoress, takes place on October 20 and 21, from 10am to 5pm each day at Fentham Hall, Marsh Lane, Hampton. Admission is £1 for adults (children free).
