A PROMISING young actor is appealing to locals to help him take up his dream place at a prestigious London drama school.

A PROMISING young actor is appealing to locals to help him take up his dream place at a prestigious London drama school.

James Hinton, from Shirley, beat thousands of other applicants auditioning for just 45 places at Mountview Academy, in north London, which boasts famous alumni such as academy president Dame Judy Dench.

“I’m on top of the world,” said the 18- year-old. “It’s my dream school.”

James, who has appeared alongside musical veteran Tommy Steele in Scrooge the Musical, Movies Rock at Stratford-upon-Avon Civic Hall and several amateur productions at Solihull Arts Complex, has just graduated from his musical theatre course at Stratford-upon-Avon College.

“I did have a big debate when I was joining college should I do A levels, play it safe, but this all I’ve ever wanted to do. But it’s competitive.

“Studying at one of the best drama schools in the country will get you ahead.”

There is only one problem, the academy costs £12,000 a year and requires a £8,000 deposit upfront. James has applied for a student loan and saved £4,000 but it will still leave him £6,000 short.

Now he is looking to the local community for donations or sponsorship to help him on his way to stardom.
