A TALENTED woman from Catherine De Barnes has set up a new borough business offering baby equipment for hire, hand delivered to your doorstep anywhere in the country.

Jodie Long, aged just 21, set up Renting for Rascals Baby Equipment Hire in Hampton Lane last month and says trading is good.

With a background in childcare, she moved on to become a family support co-ordinator with Coventry based firm Safe Hands which specialised in social care and creche provision for children.

Her target market are families and parents travelling in and out of the country via Birmingham International Airport or from other parts of the UK who don’t want to carry masses of their own baby or children’s paraphernalia with them or people who are visiting relatives or friends in England.

She hires out cots, pushchairs, highchairs and car seats, travel cots, stair gates, fireguards and sterilisers.

Before setting up the company, Jodie did her market research and also discovered just how many pushchairs were damaged on flights.

“I always wanted to work for myself, but at first it was just an idea and then it all seemed to happen,” said Jodie.
