I’M saddened by the narrow-minded objections of the Marsh Lane Area Residents’ Group to plans for building a state-of-the-art new Marie Curie Hospice.
After an eight-year search this is the only feasible spot and it will not cause these residents any undue inconvenience. Yes, they will have a few cars of relatives of terminally ill cancer sufferers, but some of these protesters may later benefit from this much needed facility. Saying they support hospice provision but ‘NIMBY’ is hypocrisy and does not fool caring people.
I hope that Solihull Council’s planning committee, supported by all three political parties, will next month grant full approval for the building.
