Wacky fundraiser Stuart Kettell has embarked on his latest challenge – walking along every street in one city on 5ft stilts.
The dad-of-three, from Balsall Common, will be covering 500 miles across Coventry in the space of three weeks, the equivalent of a marathon a day.
He has spent ten hours a day over the last few months practising teetering along the streets on the stilts and set off last Saturday.
“I’ll be leaving no road unturned - except the ring road for obvious reasons,” said the 48-year-old.
“I’ve been getting cramps around my legs from the stilts. [They] rub against my legs and it’s been causing me a lot of discomfort.
“I’ve put some lamb wool protectors on them which helps but physically it’s still quite painful. It will be tough.”
Stuart has become renowned for his stunts - which in recent year have raised £36,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. He’s previously spent a week in a box in a busy city street, ran seven marathons in a hamster wheel and soared to 50ft in the air with the aid of helium balloons.
And he hopes that his latest fundraiser will bring in at least another £5000 for the cancer charity.
“I’ll have a few volunteers to help for this challenge but ultimately it will be down to me to do the task. I’m hoping it will get easier as I go along.”
