WITH reference to the letter headed 'At boiling point', (Solihull News) I totally agree with the writer.
British Gas sells you the annual maintenance for your central heating, then service the boiler annually. Ha ha, if you check with anybody who has this cover, then you will find that if you do not check on a regular basis they gain, not you.
My central heating system was installed in May and was serviced in June of the next year. Then the following year it was July, and then September, and then November.
As you can see by the dates, if left, after 10 years you pay for 10 services and only get nine.
So I complained, only to be greeted with: "There is no need to panic, the reason it's done like this is you have not reminded us."
"Excuse me," I said, "I pay for the annual service, I should not have to remind you."
The comment was it will get done as long as it is within the year. After complaining the next service was done in June.
It can only get better, I hope, but how many pensioners are out there who pay the high cost of their Home Care agreement and never check.
