I WISH to agree with much of the sentiment expressed by Don Bargery (letters, August 29), much of which is vital at this time and especially from someone so respected.
I also believe the most significant point that Mr Bargery makes is this: "To a great extent the above rises (prices) are beyond the prompt control by any government worldwide." Indeed this has been particularly true with regards to our relationship with the United States which will still apply in geopolitical terms regardless of who takes up residence in the Whitehouse after the incomparable and incapable George W Bush vacates it.
