Bikers await lengthy sentence

BIKERS are facing a lengthy spell behind bars after being convicted of taking part in a bloody melee at Birmingham International Airport.

BIKERS are facing a lengthy spell behind bars after being convicted of taking part in a bloody melee at Birmingham International Airport.

It took jurors more than 28 hours to reach their verdicts following last month’s trial. Last week they found eight of the defendants guilty, cleared another three and failed to reach a verdict on a twelfth man.

Birmingham Crown Court had heard how dozens of bikers - from the Outlaws and Hells Angels - were involved in a huge fracas inside the airport terminal. The battle unfolded on January 20 last year.

Some of the bikers were armed with knives, machetes and other lethal weapons. Although some of those involved in the brawl were badly injured, none of the bystanders were hurt.

The defendants, all from the Midlands and aged between 35-52, have now been bailed and will be sentenced on June 19.
