AN immigrant who allegedly attempted to use a forged university certificate to stay in the UK has been arrested.

AN immigrant who allegedly attempted to use a forged university certificate to stay in the UK has been arrested.

Sanket Thaker, 27, originally from India, was arrested and charged with immigration offences when he attended a UK Border Agency office in Solihull on June 28.

Thaker, of St Ethelredas Drive, Hatfield, appeared at Solihull Magistrates Court on Friday, June 29 after being charged with attempting to obtain leave to remain by deception.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Warwick Crown Court on July 25 for a plea hearing.
