HOMES were evacuated after a bomb scare in Chelmsley Wood on Sunday.
Police had called bomb disposal experts after discovering “items of concern” at a maisonette in Piccadilly Close.
A day earlier, a man had been arrested at the address on suspicion of firearms offences. It’s alleged that guns were found there.
It was while officers were carrying out their search that they became concerned and called in the Army. One resident said it was “a complete shock” to see emergency services arrive.
Neighbours on either side were told to leave their homes and ambulances were put on stand-by, but the cordon was lifted later the same day.
Solihull Police have confirmed that a 43-year-old man is continuing to help them with their inquiries.
