Bonnie steps to dance success

SHE’S still only 22-years-old, but Bonnie has shared a stage with some of the biggest names in music.

SHE’S still only 22-years-old, but Bonnie has shared a stage with some of the biggest names in music.

In the past 12 months alone, the borough dancer has worked with Alexandra Burke, The Sugababes and boy band JLS.

The Solihull News spoke to the former St Martin’s pupil, who only a few days before had danced on The X-Factor.

“I’ve been on The X-Factor since 2006. Every year they audition for 25 backing dancers and we’re rotated through the shows,” she said.

“They pick the dancers who suit the routines and we tend to get only a day’s notice about whether we’re needed that week.

“We get 20 minutes to learn the whole number and once we’ve rehearsed it, the next time we’ll do it will be live!”

Last month, she performed on the ITV talent show with contestants Cher Lloyd, Treyc Cohen and Wagner Carrilho.

Bonnie, who grew up in Streetsbrook Road, said that it was hard work, but she had learned a lot from well-known choreographer Brian Freidman.

“It’s been amazing to work with him, he’s taught me more than anyone about being a professional,” she said.

And all the experience has come in handy - she recently got the chance to choreograph routines for Step Up: The Dance Workout.

The DVD is due out in December and breaks down five routines into easy-to-learn steps.

In the meantime, Bonnie’s waiting for the next call from The X-Factor team and is also due to fly out to Paris, to dance alongside Kelly Rowland.
