The bakery’s cakes have become renowned for their originality and great taste since Vickie Pritchett, owner and head baker, set it up three years ago. Now the Boutique Baking Company have opened a shabby-chic bakery studio in Solihull Lane, Shirley to showcase their creative cakes and share their tricks of the trade in a variety of workshops.
The bakery create cupcakes, wedding cakes, sweets and desserts for a range of events including their popular Pop-Up Vintage Tea Rooms and private orders delivered within a five mile radius.
But they have also gained a reputation for creating unusual and unique designs including a 3D caricature of a butler and a vintage suitcase, made by guest designer Annabel de Vetten-Peterson, who also has an order for a Taj Mahal wedding cake in September.
“Creativity has always been at the heart of our philosophy,” added Vickie a former retail manager. “We have cakes that defy gravity, cakes in quirky shapes, sometimes it takes a second to realise that it’s a cake at all.”
Boutique Baking Company has also launched a range of workshops in baking, decorating, paper crafting, floristry, millinery, sewing and jewellery making. Beginner workshops start at £35 for a two-and-a-half hour session.
