SAXOPHONIST Julian Smith - who wowed the nation in Britain’s Got Talent - recently performed for a Solihull couple’s wedding.
On Saturday, the 39-year-old Brummie finished third in the ITV talent contest. His rendition of Somewhere, from West Side Story, won a standing ovation and millions of new admirers.
But Libby Pettifer, from Marston Green, had been a massive fan of Julian’s music long before he appeared on the show - asking him to play at her wedding.
As Julian’s star continued to rise, Libby became concerned that her friend would be too busy to perform at her big day. After all, the musician would need to be on top form to impress Britain’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell.
“However, Julian was as good as his word and managed to re-arrange his very busy schedule to make sure that our special day was more than perfect. After all, not everyone gets the chance to be serenaded on their wedding day by one of Britain’s latest talented TV performers,” she said.
Sixty-five-year-old Libby and 72-year-old Alan Hopkinson tied the knot last month - a year to the day since they first met. The happy couple were married at Grimstock Country House Hotel, Coleshill and will be living together near to Solihull town centre.
