A DOG-walker couldn’t believe his eyes when he spotted a bull roaming around Jobs Close Park, Knowle on Monday afternoon.
James Dove was enjoying a walk through the park when he noticed the animal - which had escaped from a local farm - wandering across the grass. The creature appeared to be docile, but some worried mums - collecting children from school - took refuge in the nearby play area.
Mr Dove, an amateur photographer, observed the animal for the next hour-and-a-half. It wandered around the park and at one point tried to leave by the Lodge Road entrance - only to be frightened away by the traffic.
“My dog had a lot to say about the situation,” explained Mr Dove. “He’d never seen a dog as big as that before. I’m no farmer but I’d say this bull was fairly young - two to three-years-old.
“It was a very well behaved animal all the time I observed it and didn’t seem to be bothered by the passersby and schoolchildren walking through the park - although people kept a healthy distance away.”
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “At 3.20pm yesterday, West Midlands Police received reports of a large cow on recreation ground in Knowle.
“Officer from Solihull police station attended the scene and contacted a local farmer who came and collected the animal.”
