Burglar left his DNA on a juice carton

A TEENAGER who threw paint over the floor during a burglary in a Solihull home has been jailed.

A TEENAGER who threw paint over the floor during a burglary in a Solihull home has been jailed.

Vincent Franklin, aged 18, of Dregorn Road, Bromford, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced to eight months detention by a judge at Warwick Crown Court.

Prosecutor Iain Willis said a Solihull couple left their house in Barnfield Drive on the afternoon of March 15 and when they returned just before 6pm they found their home had been burgled.

Goods worth £980 had been taken, items were strewn over the kitchen floor and drawers had been opened and the contents emptied out.

The day before, a free sample of orange juice had been delivered to the house and the husband, who had put it in the fridge, found that it had been drunk.

The carton was taken away by the police and tests showed Franklin’s DNA on it.

Lewis Perry, defending, said: “He is a young man who is easily influenced.”
