PLANS to build a Waitrose in Knowle - and the uncertainty surrounding the scheme - have had a knock-on effect on the village hall.
The committee said that the number of bookings had slowed down, but insisted this week that there were no plans to close the venue.
Carolyn Abbot, secretary of the Knowle Village Hall Association, said that it was business as usual for the building. “Things have gone quiet about the Waitrose development and for some reason people seem to think the hall is closing,” she said. “We want to send out a message that we’re open and will remain so. Even if the scheme requires us to move, we will continue.
“At this stage there’s no indication about whether that will happen or not and we think the wait is making people nervous.”
