IT was business as usual for Alf Miller who celebrated becoming a nonagenarian in familiar surroundings last week.
The former war hero has visited Touchwood nearly every day since the shopping complex opened its doors over six years ago.
However, the veteran was in for a surprise last Monday when staff greeted and presented him with a card and cake to celebrate his 90th birthday.
Richard Isom, commercial manager for Touchwood said:
"He always has a story to share with our team members and we've all become good friends over the years.
"We wanted to join in his 90th birthday celebrations by surprising him with a card, cake and gift."
Shoppers will recognise the popular figure by his smart dress sense and the number of military badges that he often has on show.
The Damson Wood resident who survived a gunshot wound while in Dunkirk was flattered by Touchwood's generous gesture.
