PACKING bags at a local supermarket proved a winning way of raising money for the Midlands Air Ambulance.

Cadets from the 2030 Elmdon and Yardley Squadron – based in Barrows Lane – raised more than £1,000 for the charity. The proceeds were handed over during the squadron’s recent visit to RAF Cosford.

Midlands Air Ambulance has been running for almost 20 years. Although it costs £5.6m each year to run the operation, the charity does not receive funding from the Government or NHS.
