Call to claim your bike

POLICE are hoping to reunite more than 20 cyclists with their lost bikes.

POLICE are hoping to reunite more than 20 cyclists with their lost bikes.

Over the past two months the storage facilities at Solihull Police Station have been filled with bikes found around the borough.

Now the lost property area is full and officers are appealing for people to come forward and claim their bikes - before they are auctioned off.

Sue Allen, property officer, said: “We’d love them to be returned to their owners.

“We have numerous children’s bikes and it would be such a shame if these can’t be returned for them to ride on again.

“I urge anyone to contact us and check if their bicycle, or any other item of property, has been handed in as it could save you a lot of time and money.”

Racing bikes, mountain bikes and BMXs are also languishing at the Homer Road premises.

If you think your bike may be among the collection call Sue on 0845 113 5000 (ext 7921 6620). All callers will be asked to describe their bike and tell police roughly when and where it was lost.

Every year, West Midlands Police auction off thousands of pounds of lost property and stolen goods that they could not reunite with their rightful owners.
