Campaigner launches petition to support Solihull walk-in centre

SOLIHULL residents are being urged to sign a petition set up to ‘save’ the borough’s under threat walk-in centre.

SOLIHULL residents are being urged to sign a petition set up to save the boroughs under threat walk-in centre.

Local healthcare campaigner Maggie Throup has launched the e-petition to allow residents to show their support for the popular facility, which is currently under review as part of plans to change the urgent care structure in the borough.

Maggie, a former parliamentary candidate from Shirley, acted after being inundated with concerns from residents about the future of the centre, which treats thousands around 2,000 patients a week.

The Walk-In Centre based in the hospital grounds has proved to be a great success, partly because its run by local GPs who know what Silhillians need and want, Maggie said.

Its also taken pressure off the hospitals A&E department and relieved some of the strain on the ambulance service.

We need a way of showing just how valuable this service is, both in its provision and in providing a cost effective alternative to other facilities.

You can access the e-petition at

Maggie has also set up a Support Solihull Waln-in Centre facebook page.
