Campaigners call for 15mph on Olton roads

TORY campaigners Maggie Throup and David Price are backing residents in their quest to slow traffic down on a borough road.

TORY campaigners Maggie Throup and David Price are backing residents in their quest to slow traffic down on a borough road.

Streetsbrook Road families are angry that so many drivers speed along a short service road near to the junction with St Bernards Road just to queue jump.

Maggie said: “These inconsiderate drivers show blatant disregard for the safety of the families living on the service road, who deserve better.”

The pair are working with the families to get a 15mph speed limit, making the service road as safe as possible for everyone.

Concerned father-of-two young children Neill Marshall said: “I’m staggered at the way drivers put our lives at risk on a daily basis by thoughtlessly speeding along this road just to jump the traffic queue. This is a service road serving our homes, not a thoroughfare.”

Fellow resident Pete Thorp added: “There is no reason for many of these cars even to be using the service road. It’s not a bypass, and definitely not a fly pass as some drivers seem to think.”
