Care for them

IN October 2008 I suggested to council leader Councillor Meeson that charity should begin at home rather than paying for foster carers to look after children arriving unaccompanied in the UK.

IN October 2008 I suggested to council leader Councillor Meeson that charity should begin at home rather than paying for foster carers to look after children arriving unaccompanied in the UK. He replied by saying we had a moral duty to look after them.

Well Coun Meeson and fellow councillors, I put it to you that we have a moral duty to ensure that those of our elderly living in care homes in Solihull have a good rather than ‘adequate’ standard of living (Solihull News).

I see that Solihull has been told to ‘make improvements’ so I am sure you will be able to find sufficient money to look after our own who already live here, have paid taxes all of their working lives and through no fault of their own have ended up in care homes.
