STUDENTS from Solihull have grabbed the opportunity to work at Solihull Council in various departments and roles over the summer.

Five pupils from the Sixth Form College will be participating in the Career Academy programme, on a six-week paid work placement.

Employers will provide the experience, so that the students can use the skills and knowledge they have learnt in college, in a real working environment.

The programme offers one-to-one business mentoring, six-week paid internships, site visits, and Guru lectures.

The college is planning on extending the Career Academy to other areas, including Sport and Public Services, IT and Creative Media, and Science.
