Career burglar in Solihull jailed for five years

A DROP of blood left outside a Dorridge home was all it took to snare serial burglar James Sprayson.

A DROP of blood left outside a Dorridge home was all it took to snare serial burglar James Sprayson.

Sprayson, 42 of Cateswell Road, Hall Green, had smashed his way into the home to steal items to feed his heroin addiction.

However broken glass had cut him, leaving droplets of blood at the scene and from recovered DNA police were able to get their man.

Once in custody he admitted to 41 break-ins in the last two years, telling detectives he wanted to clean his slate.

The “career criminal”, who had been jailed for seven years in 1998 for a string of break-ins, was sentenced to five years at Birmingham Crown Court last month having pleaded guilty to two burglaries and asked for another 39 to be taken into consideration.
