JANE McKie’s letter (January 15) is a view Business Improvement Districts hear (there are now 104 BID’s in the UK many of which are onto their second term) and without mentioning any names, you can get fresh food and top quality meat in the centre of Solihull.
The BID’s proposals are about trying to improve footfall in Solihull Town Centre so that all shops and offices may see the benefits. Should traditional butchers and greengrocery shops choose to locate in Solihull town centre there are no guarantees that they will bring in more people. Consistently surveys on the retail experience around the country show that shoppers want convenient, quality shopping which is what Solihull is trying to provide. Upon a successful ‘Yes’ vote in Solihull, we will of course follow the advertised business plan of the BID and develop opportunities for all.
