A NEW building society opened its doors in Solihull - with a bottle of bubbly given to the lucky 100 customers to open a new account.

A NEW building society opened its doors in Solihull - with a bottle of bubbly given to the lucky 100 customers to open a new account.

Shoppers and residents were invited to check out the Yorkshire Building Society in High Street, at the official launch last Friday.

The branch's team were joined by a town crier and handed out white roses - the traditional symbol for Yorkshire.

As well as free champagne, customers were able to nominate one of five local charities to receive a £50 donation from the building society's charitable foundation.

Chief Executive, Iain Cornish, said: "It will be difficult for anyone in Solihull not to notice that Yorkshire Building Society has come to town!

"Approximately 4,000 of our customers already live in the Solihull area and we hope that opening a branch in the town centre will be a great convenience to them and many other local residents."

The new branch will have a team of seven experienced staff, including a fully qualified mortgage adviser and a legal and general financial adviser.
