A CHARITY is asking locals to make volunteering their New Year’s resolution as it expands its services in the borough.

Rather than the typical resolutions to lose weight and give up smoking resolutions, WRVS is encouraging people to join their 40,000-strong army of volunteers to help the elderly stay independent.

The charity has seen an increase in volunteering in 2012, with enquiries doubling during the Olympics and are keen for the trend to continue through 2013.

For information about volunteering, visit www.wrvs.org.uk or call 0845 601 4670.
