A MAN has told magistrates he stole eight blocks of cheese “as a prank.”

Jamie Sadler, 27, of Faircroft Road, Castle Bromwich was arrested on June 7 after allegedly being seen by security guards at Solihull’s Heron Foods attempting to conceal eight blocks of cheese worth £16.

But David Whiting, defending, told Solihull Magistrates Court that Sadler had no intention of stealing the items but hid them as a ‘prank’. “He took exception to the way he was being looked at by staff. He was winding them up,” he added. Sadler denied theft on the grounds of having no intention to deprive and was bailed to appear for trial on August 3.
