EXPLORER scout Liam Clarke has received the Solihull Youth and Community Service young leader award.
The 17-year-old, from Chelmsley Wood, was among the young people honoured in a special ceremony at the Arts Complex last Wednesday.
A couple of years ago, he was among the contingent of 35 scouts from the Solihull Unit who attended the organisation’s jamboree event in Sweden.
He now works with leaders of the local group, taking young scouts, aged 10-14, on endurance hikes. He is also a regular member of the Solihull Gang Show.
District commissioner Michael Sarjeant said: “Liam is an enthusiastic and selfless scout who is always ready with a quick smile and a helping hand.
“The nomination is to recognise and thank him for everything he has done so far; we know he has a bright future ahead of him.”
