I READ with interest last week’s letter titled ‘How dare you’! As a fellow resident of Bills Lane, I would like to offer an alternative view.
After reading Solihull MBC literature and visiting the consultation event at St James Church Hall, I feel the traffic calming proposals are both excessive and unnecessary. I do not agree with Mr & Mrs Martin about the amount of speeding traffic on the road.
As a keen cyclist and walker, I would suggest the monies intended for this venture would be far better used rectifying and repairing both pavements and roads in our area.
One only has to drive (or pedal) down Hurdis Road, Burman Road or Bills Lane (Majors Green end) to understand. As for the pavements, many are in such a shocking state.
Whatever the outcome if it is deemed that some deterrent is necessary, then please make it a chicane or camera!
