ST ALPHEGE’S own Alice Halstead will once again be appearing on Songs of Praise this weekend

The young chorister will be performing Be Still for the Presence of the Lord on this Sunday’s show.

Alice has just finished her time as Young Chorister of the Year - an annual competition, organised by BBC Radio 2.

Apart from an encore on Songs of Praise, the 16-year-old has lent her voice to a recent album by Welsh musician Karl Jenkins.

The young soprano said: “I am so grateful for the keen support and interest of my local church and community.

“My year of being Young Chorister has been full of amazing experiences, and I have had so many incredible opportunities. I’m now working for my GCSEs, before an exciting World Challenge trip to Mongolia in the summer, and then, who knows?”
